Cannes: Diane Keaton, Jacki Weaver to Play Retired Cheerleaders in 'Poms'

The project will be presented for buyers at this year’s Cannes by Sierra/Affinity.

Diane Keaton and Jacki Weaver will be giving audiences a “P” and an “O” and a “M.”

The duo will star in Poms, a feature about a group of friends that form a retirement community cheerleading squad.

Documentarian Zara Hayes will direct from a script written by Shane Atkinson. Kelly McCormick will produce, along with Rose Pictures’ Rose Ganguzza and UK-based indie production company Mad as Birds Films.

Poms will be produced and financed by Sierra/Affinity, which will present the project for buyers at this year’s Cannes Film Festival. Sierra/Affinity’s Nick Meyer and Marc Schaberg are executive producing the project.

Keaton, who provided a voice for Pixar’s Finding Dory, recently starred in HBO’s much meme-ed drama The Young Pope, and will next be seen opposite Brendan Gleeson in relationship drama Hampstead.

Weaver is set to play Melissa McCarthy’s mom in college comedy Life of the Party. She will next James Franco’s yet-to-be-dated New Line feature The Disaster Artist

Keaton is repped by WME and Gender & Kelly. Weaver is ICM, Elevate and Felker Toczek.
