Ikoyi Recovery Funds: Amaechi Writes Fani-Kayode, Fayose’s Aide

It appears the controversy over the recent recovery of 43 million Dollars, 27 million Naira and 23,000 pounds in a Lagos home may take a legal dimension soon.

This is because the Minister of Transportation, Chibuike Amaechi, has threatened to sue a former Minister of Aviation, Mr. Femi Fani-Kayode and an aide to the Ekiti state governor Lere Olayinka, for alleged defamation.

Mr Amaechi has also given both persons seven days to retract their alleged claim, accompanied with an apology to be published in five national dailies and on the same social media platforms.

Both men had allegedly accused Amaechi of owning the $43 million which the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) uncovered in the Ikoyi apartment in Lagos.

Mr Amaechi, through his counsel, Lateef Fagbemi in separate letters to Fani-Kayode and Olayinka, is demanding a total sum of N1. 2 billion, from Fani-Kayode and Olayinka for allegedly linking Amaechi with the ownership of the money and the building.
