The Nigerian Army has described, as mere propaganda, the two video clips recently released by one of the Boko Haram terrorists freed in exchange for 82 of the abducted Chibok schoolgirls. The Army’s reaction was contained in a statement signed by Brigadier SK Usman, Director, Army Public Relations.
“In the first clip the terrorist, made a string of boastful and spurious allegations, while the second clip was about alleged indoctrination of some of the abducted Chibok school girls in captivity. We wish to state that the terrorist has lost touch with current realities,” stated the Army.
It added that the videos were desperate attempts at seeking relevance and attention and advised the public to ignore them.
“As you are all aware, he was a direct beneficiary of the process that led to the release of 82 of the abducted girls, and does not have a say or capacity to do anything, therefore his threats should be ignored,” the Army added.
As part of the Federal Government’s efforts to rescuing abducted persons and restoring peace in the country, the Army said it will continue its clearance operations to banish the remnants of the Boko Haram terrorists.
“The Nigerian Air Force is unrelenting in its bombardment while other security agencies are equally doing their best. We should not give in to terrorist propaganda and empty threats. We have come to a very critical stage of the fight against terrorism and insurgency in Nigeria that requires more patriotism and security consciousness by all and sundry,” the statement counseled.
