The baton of leadership at the Delta State Polytechnic, Ozoro was exchanged on Tuesday with Dr Jacob Oboreh handing over to Professor Job Orienru Akpodiete.
Oboreh, the former rector of the institution completed his five year tenure on March 27th March, 2017.
Until the recent appointment by the state government, Akpodiete was the Dean of Faculty of Agriculture, Delta State University, Abraka.
After the brief handing over ceremony at the iconic administrative block, the pulling out of Oboreh in a military fashion took a carnival turn with members of senior staff club of the institution led by its president Comrade Gbemudu Chyke in a motorcade, drove the rector through the streets of Ozoro, his birth place.
Jubilant staff, students and members of the Ozoro community were in frenzy mood with live musical band and drummers accompanying the entourage.
The carnival show ended at Abraka, with the members of senior staff club handing over a worthy ambassador to the university.
Speaking briefly, Gbemudu said it was proper and fit to give Oboreh such reception because of his monumental achievements during the five year administration.
He said that Oboreh was loved by both staff and students because of his administrative style in touching the lives of the polytechnic members and the massive infrastructural development.
It would be recalled that on the previous day to his exit, Oboreh addressed all the staff of the institution and gave his account of stewardship.
He particularly mentioned the opening up of campus II, the iconic administrative building, the half kilometre walkway and the Olympic size stadium as some of his major achievements.
He gave glory to God for that achievements and paid special tributes to Governor Ifeanyi Okowa for the confidence reposed on him.
He also thanked the deputy rector, the registrar and the bursar of the institution for their co-operation and understanding.
The former rector also apologized to those he must had offended in the course of carrying out his official assignment, adding that he would continue to regard every staff of the polytechnic as member of his family.
