‘Get Me Roger Stone’ will have its world premiere at the Tribeca Film Festival before hitting Netflix on May 12.
Political consultant Roger Stone and those who’ve admired and studied him don’t hold back in the first trailer for the Netflix documentary about the Donald Trump advisor who helped launch the now-president’s political career.
The trailer opens with Trump praising Stone before voiceovers describe the self-proclaimed “agent provacateur” as having “an incredible capacity for treachery” and being associated with “Washington corruption.”
Stone himself then offers a Trump-esque defense.
“Those who say I have no soul, those who say I have no principles are losers,” he says. “Those are bitter losers.”
The trailer traces Stone’s rise, highlighting his Richard Nixon back tattoo, his role in pioneering negative campaign advertising and creating “the modern sleazeball lobbyist,” as one of the people interviewed for the doc explains. It then moves into Stone’s role in creating Trump’s political career and launching his 2016 presidential bid.
The preview ends with Stone saying, “I revel in your hatred because if I weren’t effective, you wouldn’t hate me.”
Get Me Roger Stone has its world premiere at the Tribeca Film Festival and will debut on Netflix on May 12. The doc is directed by Daniel DiMauro, Morgan Pehme and Dylan Bank and executive produced by Blair Foster.
