The Senate Committee on Diaspora has condemned the reported killing of another Nigerian in a fresh attack in South Africa.
In a statement signed by its Chairperson, Senator Rose Oko, the Committee said it was regrettable that a Nigerian auto mechanic, Razak Ajao, was killed and four others injured in a fresh attack on Thursday in Polokwane Limpopo province.
Senator Oko noted that despite the agreements reached and the intervention by the Nigerian parliament after the last attack in February, the latest attack was a sad indication that the problem was rife.
Part of the agreements reached between Nigeria and South Africa include the creation of an early warning unit to prevent future attacks, as well as addressing all outstanding and future grievances of the Nigerian community.
The Committee has called on the South African government to put concrete strategies in place, to quickly check any future occurrence of the incident by bringing the killers of Mr Ajao and all others to book.
