The screenplay – based on a story by Borrelli and about a young genius who creates a superhero from the dark web – has been acquired by Moving Pictures Media.
Mauro Borrelli, an illustrator whose long line of credits include Star Wars: The Last Jedi, The Hateful Eight and Captain America: First Avenger and director of films such as the recent R.J. Mitte and Wesley Snipes-starring sci-fi film The Recall, is set to direct the upcoming action thriller E-Ghost.
Based on a story by Borrelli, the film will center around a young genius who uses the dark net to create a superhero using a hologram generated by a futuristic action video game. As the first to crack the game’s encryption, he unleashes stunning and terrifying possibilities.
The screenplay has been penned by Carlo Carere, Reggie Keyhoara and James Simpson, and was acquired by U.K.-based Moving Pictures Media.
Isabella Marchese Ragona (Forsaken, The Recall) is teaming up with James D. Brubaker (Chef, The Nutty Professor, Bruce Almighty and Liar Liar) to exec produce.
Adel Nur of Halcyon Talent Agency brokered the deal and represents Borrelli internationally.
