After last season’s Balenciaga casting fiasco, in which models claimed they had been locked in a dark stairwell for hours while casting directors went to lunch, Models.com took a survey asking models to describe their experiences. One anonymous model, who noted that she was at the Balenciaga casting, said she has experienced much worse, including one fitting where she was forced to wait for 17 hours. Others added that they had been inappropriately touched during shoots, and almost all noted that comments about their weight in their youth (most around the age of 14) had led to body dysmorphia.
StyleWatch Changing Name to PeopleStyle [WWD]
People’s style supplement magazine StyleWatch is getting a branding makeover. The Time Inc. title will officially drop the “Watch” from its name, becoming simply PeopleStyle, fusing with People’s own digital style vertical. Additionally, the glossy is cutting back its print schedule to eight issues per year. StyleWatch editor-in-chief Bethany Heitman and People’s beauty and fashion editor Andrea Lavinthal will head up PeopleStyle.
