United Labour Congress Suspends Nationwide Strike

The United Labour Congress (ULC) announced on Wednesday that it has suspended its nationwide strike for one week.

ULC president Joe Ajaero said the factional labor union decided to temporarily suspend its strike after it met with the presidency to discuss its demands.

The union began a strike on September 15 due to the federal government’s refusal to recognize the ULC as a legal labor union in addition to issues such as raising the minimum wage.

The group is set to meet with Minister of Labour Chris Ngige on September 26 for further negotiations and discussions.
