Victoria Beckham Talks About Her Target Collection and What She Misses the Most About L.A.

The designer, and former L.A. resident, was in town to promote her new collaboration with Target.

It’s been 4 years since the Beckhams moved back to London, and Victoria is still missing L.A.

In town to host a tea party on Saturday to promote her new Target collaboration, she shared that what she misses most is hiking. “We love London, but will always come back here to visit as we feel so connected to the city,” she told The Hollywood Reporter. The Beckhams lived here from 2008 to 2013, but still return often for vacation and even spent all of last summer in L.A.

The tea, held at the Bel Air residence of Mohamed Hadid (Gigi, Bella and Anwar’s dad), drew an array of stars dressed for spring in Beckham’s gingham, bee-prints and florals, including Zoe Saldana, Naomie Harris, Camilla Belle and Jessica Alba.

Beckham, also in one her own designs, a silky blouse and pants in a dramatic calla lily pattern, said of the Target collection launching April 8, which includes women’s, plus and children’s sizes, “For a while now, I have wanted to offer something to a wider group of women, who either don’t want to, or can’t afford to spend designer prices.”

As for what inspired the 200 plus pieces, ranging from $6 to $70, she says it’s everyday life, and the more “playful, relaxed side” of her own wardrobe, which she first started to explore in her contemporary-priced Victoria, Victoria Beckham line, created five years ago when she was pregnant with daughter Harper.

The Target collection is distinguished by whimsical scallop-edged tops, sunny stripes and blooming florals. “I really wanted to celebrate femininity, and have fun with it. There are ’60s pop-inspired florals, which are perfect for summer, and then there are more muted florals which came from the idea of a beautiful English garden in bloom.”

On including plus sizes, her first-ever entry into the category, she said, “It has always been important to me that my designs reach women all over the world. Target typically offers a range of sizes in their design partnerships, and I’m glad we could include them.”

L.A. was the natural place to launch the collection. “It feels like a second home,” Beckham said. “I miss it here. We’re a very outdoorsy family, so I’d say what we miss most is being able to get out into the hills and hike.”
